Labelling Guidelines

Labelling Guidelines

Products labelled as “organic” must be certified by an approved UK certification body. This is a legal requirement and applies to all operators involved in producing, preparing, storing, importing, exporting, or marketing organic products.

Food products must contain at least 95% organic agricultural ingredients to be described as organic. If the organic content is below 95%, the term “organic” cannot appear in the product name or description; only individual organic ingredients may be identified in the ingredient list.

All certified products must display the code GB-ORG-04. Labels for products sold in the UK must also include a statement of agricultural origin, such as “UK Agriculture,” “Non-UK Agriculture,” or “UK or Non-UK Agriculture.”

All label designs must be submitted to your certification body for approval prior to use.
